Our Story
From the Distillery Floor to Vancouver Island
Our barrels start out at cooperages in Kentucky. Coopers build them from American white oak and char the inside to age bourbon. After years of aging bourbon, the distillery retires them.
We buy those retired Kentucky bourbon barrels and bring them straight to Vancouver Island. The char, the worn staves, the rusted bands: all of it came off a real distillery floor.
Island Barrel Company is family-run and based in Errington, BC. We operate by appointment only, so please reach out to schedule a time to come pick out your barrel in person at 1300 Errington Rd.
